2010 Asia Pacific Water and Sewer Systems Modelling Conference Offers Packed Agenda
Powerful new features in v10.5 of InfoWorks, FloodWorks
Dates and Call for Papers Announced for the 2010 Asia Pacific Water and Sewer Systems Modeling Conference
Developed from the River Flow Forecasting System (RFFS) in collaboration with CEH Wallingford Overview FloodWorks is a modular software package for real-time simulation and forecasting of extreme hydrological and hydraulic conditions within river basins, drainage systems and the coastal zone. Designed for operational use in the control room, FloodWorks is particularly suitable for real time flood forecasting, warning and management for river catchments and coastal areas. FloodWorks links real-time hydrological and meteorological time-series data sources with detailed and accurate water models to provide forecasts of water level, flood depth and sea state for the hours or days ahead. By enabling managers and engineers to carry out fast, accurate simulation of the key elements of the future behaviour of river and channel systems, FloodWorks supports the mobilisation of emergency responses and the provision of public flood warnings. Example Applications
Future Developments The FloodWorks environment is designed as a standard platform for the integration of a range of models for real-time forecasting. New model algorithms are continually being added and systems for real-time river water quality and coastal flood forecasting are currently being designed. Interface developments include integration with web-servers to allow Internet distribution of forecast and warning products. Features & Benefits |
