FloodWorks system configuration

The operational forecasting system is supported by a powerful suite of software tools, within FloodWorks Configuration Manager, for configuring the FloodWorks model network over GIS backgrounds (e.g. ESRI shape files, standard image formats) and for building and calibrating individual model components. Features include:

  • The FloodWorks network editor for configuring the model network. This includes the set-up of sites, data streams, and forecasting points for a full range of data types, including flow, level, rainfall, snow parameters, meteorological parameters, battery voltage and a range of parameters from the hydrodynamic model.
  • Facility to enter quality control criteria for the data loader
  • Calibration tools for PDM, KW and PACK model components
  • Linkage with InfoWorks RS for building and calibrating hydrodynamic models
  • Facility to define event criteria for specific data streams via generic user-configured event templates. Events can be based on a range of criteria including missing or manual data flags, passing of thresholds, rates of change of values.
  • Facility to define the format of summary tables, including data stream content, summary methods, time windows for summary construction.
  • Full user-control over appearance of the Event Manager operational interface, including groundmodel and flood mapping settings, map view criteria, graphical options

Hardware requirements

FloodWorks Server, FloodWorks Event Manager & FloodWorks Configuration Manager

The following operating systems are supported:

  • Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or greater
  • Windows 2003
  • Windows XP (Service Pack 1 or greater)
The minimum hardware requirements are:
  • PC with 300 MHz or higher processor clock speed recommended; Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
  • 1Gb RAM
  • 20GB Free hard disk
  • 1024x768 high resolution screen

When modelling using the flood mapping tools, you may find that these minimum specifications result in unacceptably slow operation. A faster processor and more memory will provide the best performance improvements. For more complex, operational systems appropriate sizing depends heavily on the planned loading from computational model runs and client (file-server) access. FloodWorks Web Session Manager & FloodWorks Web Server

The minimum requirements are:

  • PC with 300 MHz or higher processor clock speed recommended; Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
  • 1Gb RAM
  • 20GB Free hard disk
  • Internet Information Services (IIS) including File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Service and World Wide Web Service

If multiple web sites are to be run on a single PC, then a Server version of Windows is required. Operating systems supported are:

  • Windows Server 2000
  • Windows Server 2003
